ERRATA

ERRATA

M. Owen Lee

I must beg the forgiveness of the readers of Quarterly Quiz for three (!) slips in the double-crostic "The German Composer and the American Soldier" (vol. 7, no. 2, Summer 15)90). Fritz Soot was not "Fritz, the first Faninal," but "Fritz, the first Faninal Major-domo." (He was also the first Italian Singer.) The United States was not the "country where Josephslegende premiered" but the "country where the ‘Symphonic Fragmentfrom Josephslegende’ premiered" (in Cincinnati in 1949). Finally, "what he meant," in the quotation, ought to have been "what it meant." As the first Faninal, Karl Scheidemantel, sang, "Möcht'st in die Erd'n sinken, was? Ich auch!"
